Here’s to our next chapter! Here’s to our Hong Kong MedTech Association, HKMTA!
Our chairman, Fred, shared the following address as our association evolved from HKMHDIA to Hong Kong MedTech Association (HKMTA)

Sophia, Honorary Chairmen, Members, Distinguished Guests, and Friends of the Hong Kong MedTech community,
Today, we take a step forward. On behalf of our board, I am honoured to announce that, from today onward, we will be known as the Hong Kong MedTech Association (HKMTA).
Our journey began in June 2003 as the Hong Kong Medical and Healthcare Device Manufacturing Association. At that time, our members focused on producing medical devices and contract manufacturing, laying a strong foundation for our industry’s growth.
By 2008, our network expanded beyond manufacturing, bringing together members from across the medical device industries, importers/exporters, supply chain specialists, legal and regulatory experts, startups, and multinational companies. With that growth, we became the Hong Kong Medical and Healthcare Device Industries Association, a name that united a larger community committed to advancing the medical device field.
But MedTech is advancing fast, and so must we!
Medical devices now integrate digital health solutions, robotics, Artificial Intelligence, and more, advancing healthcare in ways we never imagined.
We are in a new era of medical devices, which I call the era of “Medical Device +”, where medicine and technology converge to improve patient outcomes. Our new name reflects this transformation in our industry.
Hong Kong MedTech Association is continuing to serve as a platform:
• To unite stakeholders across the industry.
• To advocate for clear, supportive policies.
• To promote technologies and local products and solutions.
• To strengthen partnerships in the Greater Bay Area and beyond.
Soon, we’ll see our new logo, a symbol of collaboration. It represents our shared vision: advancing MedTech through innovation and collaboration.
Let’s remember, our greatest strength is our community here. To our founding members, thank you for paving the way. To our newer and future members, your expertise in healthcare technologies, robotics, AI, and more will ensure we remain at the forefront of the industry.
In closing, a name is more than just words, it represents our vision and our future. Together, as the Hong Kong MedTech Association, we will shape and grow the MedTech ecosystem in Hong Kong, in GBA and beyond.
